God... I just have to say, what incredible read. The whole thing took me days to complete with several hours per session. I won't spoil anything, this is way too fucking good to do that. However, I will mention one thing. If you are playing this for the first time, DO JENNA'S ROUTE LAST, I highly recommend it. My personal opinion on what order the routes should be done in is as follows: Carl, TJ, Flynn, Leo, (Side Stories in the Gallery, accessed by clicking on the lake in the title screen, then the phone on the right side at the bottom. Scroll down to the bottom to find all the Side Stories.) And then lastly, Jenna's route. It doesn't quite matter what order you do the other 4 routes in, but at the very least I recommend doing Leo's route second to last, and then do the side stories before finishing off with Jenna's route. Like I said, I'm not going to spoil anything, but there is a very good reason that Jenna's route should be done as the very last route. Several story aspects that I cannot mention without spoiling anything, so just take my word for it.
Also, all routes except TJ's and Flynn's have multiple endings. I would suggest doing both endings for each route before advancing to the next.
Okay. So...i don't know if it's just me but...did anybody see Trip? HOLY FUCK! I think Chase died...but he should be alive in the main game...i need help figuring it out because I went "NO NOT CHASE" in my head and felt like crying. If that was literally after the main game, I'll fucking lose it. I know I don't like Carl but after Trip? HATE THE GUY!
during the "trip" short story, carl is high on acid. he thinks chase is in the car, but he isn't, he's at college. it's possible carl was maybe seeing the embrace, leo's chase tulpa (similar to how duke was seeing "chase" around town before he arrived)
Is there a specific system requirement for the android version? (Like the version or something like that). After downloading the game, whenever I tried to install·it gave an error of some sorts. Or do we need a renpy emulator for this game ?
I haven't played through all the routes just Leo, Caril, and TJ's(2 of 5) and this game is so fucking good. Its horror is perfect it makes you fearful, scared, and creeped out while also making you want to continue the story. They used the VN format to the fullest to enhance to story and make it even more scary. Every conversation is so real and the characters are so well written that there is (almost) no alright bad or good character.
SPOILERS FOR LEOS ROUTE . . . . . . . . . .
Leo's route is so fucking terrifying because everything that happens to Chase is all really happening to him and when Chase is locked in Brian's sex thing platform and you get a look at Chance's fake self scared the FUCK out of me and then when he did wake up and look at himself in the mirror also scared me because I knew exactly what happened to him, and the detail with everything Chase is feeling when he is in that made me want to read more to see how he gets out.
while yes, 'the smoke room' isn't finished yet like the above-listed are, i would recommend it nestled right between flynn and 'arches' tbh. i feel like 'echo' sets up a lot more breadcrumbs for TSR that are easy to forget about if not immediately followed-up on, whereas 'arches' is still fine to start and be pretty easily-understood if its been a while (in my case, years) since one's last reading of 'echo'. that, and TSR is light-hearted in more places and provides somewhat of a break (or at least, as much of a break as you're going to get) in-between rounds with the emotional heavyweight that is brian😅
I really got into the whole story and the characters. Each of them reminded me of himself in different periods of my life.
I even wrote my own fanfiction dedicated to a more detailed relationship between Flynn and Chase, (I'll leave a link to it for those interested a little later)
what got me so hooked?
first, the characters. Oh, my God, Flynn. He reminds me very much of me
, the rest are the psychotypes of people you see every day.
And more emotions. I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder and PTSD and I was able to fully experience what the characters of the novel felt.
I was literally shaking throughout the game.
thanks to everyone involved in this masterpiece. thanks
I am from Russia, but I know English well, and I would like to find people to discuss the novel / password/ maybe someone would like to read my fanfiction.
I don't have many friends with similar hobbies, so thanks to the game I hope to find them.
Well! You know, Im also from Russia, do you wanna to discuss echo with me? I just finished Leo's route, and Im kinda shocked of how it impacted my mental condition😅, so Im in a search for a human who can understand me.
If you're playing Echo for the first time I highly suggest you go in blindly without reading any of the comments.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
wow. this game left me speechless (I just cried after finishing the game after beating Teej's route) Echo made me happy, sad, irritated and even sometimes anxious thinking about how the story would unfold LOL. the storywriting is so unique to anything and it left me guessing what would come next, not predictable at all but in a good way. this is the first time ive been so invested in a vn and actually completed it, theres just too much content in this game which im pleased about because i get to play it more :)
i was spoiled the fact that chase actually killed sydney and i thought i would be able to kind of guess where the story was going after that but no, it led me through a different type of path and that ending was absolutely unexpected. massive fucking props to everyone who worked on this game you executed it perfectly, and in saying this i've only completed one out of five? routes
so much time is gonna be poured into playing the other routes (hopefully) but in short i love this novel, please keep doing what you guys do💗
this vn ABSOLUTELY killed me. I've only completed leo's and tj's route and i honestly wished i listened to the content warning ngl, still loved it tho. i came here to ask if jenna's, carl's, or flynn's route are any less traumatic, because brian had me fucked up throughout the majority of Leo's route, Tj's route (while amazing) had me crying every ten seconds. After completing both of those routes, I wanted to take a step back from this vn, BUT...if any of the remaining routes wont crush me internally and make me cry for six hours straight, i wanna try it. mainly because i want to see chase have a genuine happy ending, but i also need a happy ending from this vn for myself as well lmao. Overall i thought everything about this visual novel was amazing, but i do need to know if any of the other routes won't be the literal end of me. (and i don't mean to scare anyone off with this, i'm really dramatic, and i have a huge soft spot for stuff like this, give it a shot if this is something that interests you, you'll definitely handle it better than me lol.)
Without spoiling anything, Jenna's route involves Brian again and that particular scene somehow manages to be even worse - but overall Jenna's good ending is my personal favourite!
carl's is brian-free, jenna's has some scenes but def not as bad as other routes, and i forget about flynn but im pretty sure his is fucked-up in a different (and mostly brian-free, if i remember correctly) way. it took me at least three whole-ass years between my last full reading of 'echo' and my first time finishing 'arches' due to all the shit that brian does in this vn, so sometimes it be that way. jenna's may be the only one i can definitely say has an optimistic ending, since i just finished it again earlier tonight, and perhaps carl's does too—so maybe save them for last if you want to end your experience of the storyline on a high-note.
remember: go slow, take breaks, and turn it off if it's ever too much!
So I am in the mid of Tj’s route and god damn am I sick.! (in a horrific good way) Like damn.! I am the killer?!— I am on the beach scene where we switched out the notes.
Jenna Has To be the canon route!!! Because of Arches!!! also to get the best ending from carl you have to resist and push wink wink nudge nudge wink wink :))
The one that started it all. I read this around the time it was completed. All routes, and from what I can remember, I found Flynn's the most interesting, but it's also a bit unfair to pick one. All the routes make the story whole, and that's ultimately what makes Echo what it is. Well, one side of it anyway, the other being the actual plot.
I won't go into too much detail. I remember going into it with a mindset of "just another dating sim" and being surprised it had actual intrigue, which is good. It's not my top favorite, I'll say that much. Younger cast just creates a disconnect, so I was mostly here for the actual plot and lore, which was interesting. In the end, I ended up liking it, and I'm certainly not saying it's bad. After the initial shock of certain events faded, that's what I was left with.
Just a little bit of perspective from an older reader I suppose. Someone who values plot and characters in a story. I would say it's one of the better VNs.
I hope everyone involved is doing alright, and I hope that none of you, the fans, will take my little opinion too harshly. I'm not here to insult it, just to share my thoughts.
Take care, and thank you for creating something that still has me thinking about it here and there.
If the visual novel genre had its own Oscars, this work would undoubtedly deserve a major award. To date, I have not encountered a visual novel that can compare to the excellence of this piece. The writers and scriptwriters of this VN are truly remarkable; if they decide to pen anything else as the main contributors, I will certainly continue to follow their work. Of course, the artists and composers are also exceptionally talented. Thank you all for bringing us such an astounding piece.
The Echo Project stands out as unparalleled in the FURRY VN domain. From crafting the romantic FVN Adastra to the serious and suspenseful FVN The Echo, and now venturing into the realm of adult suspense with The Smoke Room, the versatility of this group is truly impressive. I find it hard to imagine what surprises this team will bring us in other genres in the future.
I have a question on Leo's way (Possible spoilers)
In the bathroom scene between Leo and Chase, Leo stops Suddenly the moment because he saw some things in the mirror but he doesn't say what he saw just say that he sees things before checking that the bathroom was closed, even close to see made the way to Leo a second time I think Leo or Chase doesn't tell anyone moment
You can explore the Jenna route, where you'll find out what Leo actually saw. Of course, in the later stages of both Leo's and Flynn's routes, you'll also get some hints. Although Leo may appear a bit crazy in his own route, to some extent, he isn't insane; he simply noticed things that others overlooked. You can go back and revisit those seemingly nonsensical scenes in the later part of his route. In Jenna's route, everyone will discover a fact that should have been very noticeable.
Technically there *are* NSFW sex scenes, but there's (almost) no CGs associated with them, so it's mostly just words that you can gloss through if you need.
Though tbh with all the gut punches this game will give you, NSFW is the least of your worries. Enjoy!
you can skip a majority of them by, telling jenna you're gay before the pre route split, and telling flynn that "this is fucked" on thursday night in his route. the only one that is still in the game is going to be during leos route, and a few instances in flynns route.
Watched “The Shining” in my film analysis class, and realized some striking similarities. *Spoilers for Echo and The Shining*
1: The main plot taking over the course of the week, some allusions to something more sinister going on throughout.
2: A curse on the town/hotel that causes people to go mad.
3: A voice with a protagonist, prophet or warning of doom; Tony in The Shining, and (I think) Sam in Echo.
4: The Protagonists escape, leaving the madness and danger behind.
5: A cyclical theme. Echo has had its hysteria happen in the 1879’s, and the Overlook Hotel had Jack murder his wife and kids in the 20’s (or whenever his reincarnation had a family), a repeat of events seeming to doom both locations forever.
Was The Shining a source of inspiration for Echo? Or am I just tweaking and it’s a coincidence?
Complex, gritty, thought provoking, and eerily human.
I thought I'd be prepared for this VN, but even then, I finish the game having experienced all routes with a rather heavy heart and a sinking feeling in my stomach.
Between the genuinely unnerving horror/mystery elements constantly present and the character writing/situations that might hit just a little too close to home, this is truly a one of a kind experience.
Echo is not afraid to pull any punches whatsoever, and does not shy away at all from uncomfortable and taboo topics. It's all real. It's the truth.
This is also the beauty of Echo, however. I really did appreciate the game showing just how dirty adolescence and growing up can be, and coming to terms with it.
One of the finest pieces of media I've experienced, and definitely one I'll look back on fondly even if there wasn't much to go for in terms of sunshine and rainbows.

not sure if i said it but i love echo, so easy to replay, i get lost every time <3
The amount of sleep I've lost over this game is actually incredibly impressive thank you so much for making such an amazing game.
Idk why but I can't open echo on Android it keeps crashing I've try everything but it still won't open
I JAVE THIS PROBLEM TOO😭😭😭😭
used a different Android and it worked perfectly fine and it's a older Android
sometimes i use this game as a buddhist meditation on the nature of trishna (clinging)

welp now this is my favorite piece of media ever.
Finished all routes. Mental health gone. Highly recommend.
A wonderful VN. Hooked me, little sad I am late to the party.
Amo a ese lobo.
My only regret is not being able to thoroughly bang everyone and heal their wounded souls with my sexual dynamism.
It's... admittedly an odd choice for the happiest route/ending to be the only straight one, in a (primarily) gay visual novel.
Not intentional obviously, was just how it ended up but still just... weird to think about.
so is there no good ending with Leo or did I miss something?
nah, there's just no way to save the day and have the sexy wolf back at the same time
FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PLAY THIS:
Do Flynn last, a lot of people say to do Jenna last but trust me (a random stranger on the internet) on this one... you won't regret it.
I'd recommend a route like:
Route 65 (Game) > TJ > Carl > Leo > Jenna > Flynn > Arches (Game)
while yes, 'the smoke room' isn't finished yet like the above-listed are, i would recommend it nestled right between flynn and 'arches' tbh. i feel like 'echo' sets up a lot more breadcrumbs for TSR that are easy to forget about if not immediately followed-up on, whereas 'arches' is still fine to start and be pretty easily-understood if its been a while (in my case, years) since one's last reading of 'echo'. that, and TSR is light-hearted in more places and provides somewhat of a break (or at least, as much of a break as you're going to get) in-between rounds with the emotional heavyweight that is brian😅

i just opened the game never heard or seen anything about the game but the intro alone i can tell this game is gonna hit my feels
Oh my god. Holy fuck. Read this.
I'm neither gay nor a furry, but honestly that doesn't matter, you need to read this visual novel. It's like a good tv show.
