Hey guys, i just finished Flynn's route. I don't understand. Can somebody tell me what's going on? I still don't know how Sydney died and what happened to chase, carl, jenna, dax and leo. What the hell happened?
I feel this VN was a big mistake, at least for me... :(
Well, you may want to play the other routes to understand it better.
Flynn's route ends with him becoming the the monster! The picture shows whats left of his body after burning in the mine and traveling through time! The little kid in the picture is Jenna. She talks about seeing the monster in another route. As for Chase and the others, their not shown. I assumed they survived Echo maybe with some mental trauma and morn the death of Flynn. Carl and Dax saw Flynn burning in the mine, they would tell the others he's dead I guess.
Well, my soul is a frail, Echo is far more enough to me. xD Now somehow i understand, but i don't like i couldn't have a choice to get a good end with everybody surviving. :/ Ehh, this story is simply not my taste. The character design is really good, i would have enjoy some nsfw, but nevermind. The early story was really good, but the end was horrible for me. :/ Maybe that's just not my type, because how i see the things, everybody liked echo, now looks like i'm the black lamb. :D
After reading some comments, I feel like i made a fool of myself thinking Flynns route was going to be continued on Echo but i guess it was a teaser for the upcoming thing if i am correct?
I will say that being someone that gets overhyped about story and all that i really have a bad experience as this game is dark and scary at some points...
TJ's Route scared me, i dont know if i was at the end of the route at all, because i wimped out because of what happened to flynn.
But this game is Amazing, I love how there was a lot of info that could be formed into theories... What's really sad is that me as a person feels bad for flynn and what happened to him in his route. If there was a chance I would save him but i know that wont happen considering what he turned into...
The time loop thing sort of resonates with me because i love when stories do that... Seeing How Flynn was all those things everyone saw and how he turned into socket monster.
The weird thing is I feel like all the routes are happening all at the same time, Its weird i know but the way Chase did that to Flynn really made me rethink that Maybe chase was being controlled the whole time and being in everyone elses routes at the same time... Because i will say so far all the routes seem to end differently with flynns possibly being the one true ending (My opinion)
Haven't checked out Jenna's route out yet but i think i should stick with finishing the others before her's also i thought those pictures Chase finds in the town hall were just easter eggs, but its more story stuff that we may get in future updates to The smoke room...
Still confused about the dates on the photos that we find tho...
William, Cliff and Supposedly Murdoch the one who took the photo together what seems like a cliff... We haven't seen that yet in the story...
What i don't get is how the hysteria started in 1915? But James died in 1913? (James is the ram mayor right?) I may be wrong but i cant seem to place that maybe William went back in time or it was a mistake...
Sorry i seemed to vented random stuff but i guess im just really obsessed with the story and meanings!
James Sr. is one of the people who founded Echo in the mid 1800s. He left to start an ice cream business and then died before TSR began. The James seen in alive and well in TSR is his descendant
I Not finished the game, but i have several problems. It gonna be a really good vn, just the problem is, i can't identify myself as Chase at TJ's route. At Flynn's i don't like i'm not Chase anymore and i don't like the idea to see the things in Flynn's eyes. I used to love thriller. My favourite anime is Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, but i played the game as Chase, it's always use "I", "Me", "My" or etc. In TJ's route, i don't want to be an asshole...
It would be okay, if the game don't identify myself as Chase, but hell, it hurts to be a shit person in TJ's route!
Ah, but you, the reader, are not Chase, and that's the point the VN is trying to make (Jenna's route will make this clear, that's all I can say without spoiling it for you). This is one of the reasons why I love Echo, it plays around with genre conventions and standards, making you question everything after a plot twist is revealed. It is no coincidence that "real" choices are very limited in Echo, compared to most other VNs.
And with Flynn, pay attention to the moment the perspective changes. What happened to Chase that caused the change? Why did we follow Flynn and not someone else? It all has a purpose and ties together, and coming up with theories and trying to find the real reason is 60% of the fun I got from playing Echo.
Also, notice how in Adastra you can chose Marco's name, but in Echo Chase's name is chosen for you.
PS. Echo isn't a thriller VN, I'd classify it as horror/mystery. So you'll be disappointed expecting to get a thrill out of Echo without putting any work in yourself.
I can't say Echo is a horror, because it not even scared me, maybe a little, but also i not really like horror, because horror is too scary, and there are a lot of twist and that's why i say it's more like thriller. Well, i can understand your statement. I can agree with u in a lot of part, maybe it's jut not my taste. Also i can enjoy this VN 75%. Maybe i identified myself as Chase, because i have an arachnaphobia too, also at Flynn's route i was able to choose what i really really want. I just hope the team will survive and i not disappoint in Chase. I hope he didn't kill Sydney. Flynn's route will be the first and the last for me i think. I still feel myself a dipshit in Toby's route. :/
I just realized this, on Leo's bad ending, since he killed the one with the "hallucinations" , doesn't that mean the echo/entity would be after him? wouldn't he go through the same paranormal happenings that occurred to chase and Sam? It would be insane to get even a glimpse of what might happen, the cast's reactions to what happened to their otter friend, their words towards leo, the funeral, Leo's realization and shock/trauma when he comes to his senses.. , but I'm not sure if the story can be stretched out any further, plus he would most likely either be in an asylum or prison.. Still, the possibility of Leo being possessed/tormented by that entity for as long as he lives..after losing his most important person no less, magnifies the bad ending by dozen folds..
Oh wow! Yeah I thought about that too. I think when Leo realized what he did, he'd kill himself! I mean, Leo's been in love with Chase for years, and then totally obsessed with him. Then Imagine him snapping out of the hysteria seeing Chase dead. I think it would be the end for him too.
That's very possible! , or maybe he would crack for good and keep pretending with full intensity after that.. It's a heavy blow how the ambulance/police are only slightly late, when chase hears them before passing, I'm real curious about the presence that was staring at him though xx I have my doubts but they are most unlikely
I'm hoping there would be a continuation to this ending in Arches, but I highly doubt it.
wether it happens or not, I feel like we definitely need to see Leo in the next game, he is pretty much the mascot of echo ^^; would feel weird if we didn't get a glimpse or a mention at least.
Hmm, I really think the hysteria would fade and Leo would see reality and chose to join Chase.... I kinda find that a better outcome then Leo being in psychiatric prison for the rest of his life! I wonder if the thing he saw was the socketman?
I don't know about that, I think only Chase is going to be seen in Arches. I hope maybe Leo is shown though, and he has a better outcome and isn't depressed for life.
Judging from Flynn's endings, I don't think Leo will show up since in one variation of the ending Leo moved out of Echo, while in another he's still in Echo.
Man, I did not expect this VN to hit THIS hard, I just finished my first route(TJ's) and I don't think I can read the others.. just yet. I just gonna have an emotional shutdown for a week before I might continue with the other routes
very compelling, immersive, but this was intensely depressing to get through. the depiction of rural decay, the effect of living in such a setting on the characters, hits very hard.
definitely reading the other stuff by echoproject, but also -- any recommendations for something a bit more cheerful, idealistic? ;-;
Damn EchoProjects!!! You sure know how to pull my hartstings. Echo is by far the best/worst experience in VNs i ever had. The fact that it captures your attention and make you feel every emotion is just unbelievable. Just well done guys!!
SPOILER IN JENNA'S ROUTE AND FOR THE SMOKING ROOM VN AHEAD!!
I don't know why, but for some reason I balled like a baby when my suspicion of the the old albino guy from Jenna's route was actually Samuel from TSR. It absolutely broke my heart. I was like "No f'ing way you let him die like that." I love his character so much, and the fact that the game states he lost everyone make me very afraid of whats to come in the later updates of TSR. Knowing how Echo was it will most probably be very heartbreaking. Here hoping I won't die from sadness lol.
Yeah, aside from TJ's, Flynn's is considered the "worst" route to start with.
If you haven't yet, try and save TJ's for last.
Perhaps a "recommended" order would be: Carl -> Leo -> Flynn -> TJ -> Jenna (by default as it's not finished yet).
EDIT: Just saw further down the devs recommending someone mentioning this play order: The Smoke Room -> Route 65 -> Carl -> Leo -> Jenna -> TJ -> Flynn.
TJ is best played first imo (perhaps even before TSR), especially if you're the kind of player who likes reading in between the lines and tries to predict the twists since it's easy to get tipped off to the twist at the end of TJ's by playing the other routes first. The other reason to play TJ first is because out of all the routes, up until the end it felt like a low budget horror B-movie to me (as someone who played it first), which really plays around with your expectation for the ending. I think if you don't play it first, it looses that B-movie feel and the ending won't really subvert expectations and not be as memorable.
Route 65 I would say is completely optional, and only really matters for Jenna's route. And that's not to mention that a lot of it is repeated in Jenna's route too.
And just to be clear, the devs didn't recommend that order, just that they agree with it.
oof, yeah Flynn is easily the best route, but is terrible to start with. Ah well, the game is better if you play the important parts over and over again, making theories and finding evidence. And Flynn's route has a lot of juicy info for theories.
I started with it. And it was so fucking scary with the monster but I think that It's the perfect route for the beginning. Cuz' you can understand all the Sidneys problems, and the personality of Syd and Flynn, Even you can look at how flynn cares about carl. So when you finish his route you have more questions than Answers and you could know which route would have the answers you want to know (just like me xD that I played Flynn's route and then I played TJ's Route for the answers of what happened)
oh my god. I have to say that this visual novel is one of the best that I have read!!! It’s story and different potential plots keeps me extremely interested! I must say that I did wonder if there is nsfw art in it. But it’s not a big issue. I have to ask about the story though. When the novel is fully complete would you have like a full story of everything? I’d love to figure out if there is like a true ending. Also, your game incorporates a nice choice in the beginning that lets you choose if you are bi or not. Most novels start out with a certain relationship in mind. But I love the choice!! I hope you have a lot of story for Jenna too! I’m so excited for the next update! Keep up the great work!
Only the Jenna route is still in development, the others are basically finished. The creators has said that there won't be a complete/true story, at least not in Echo, since they have plans for a direct sequel (Arches) that follows on from Flynn's route - but they've also said that all the routes are considered canon so I don't know how that will work.
In the meantime you can play The Smoke Room for more information and lore. It gives you quite a lot of details which you can use to piece together the mystery.
Also, you actually don't get to chose being bi or not, not really. If you chose gay, Chase will say that he doesn't feel like explaining his sexuality and that saying anything else confuses people, implying that he is still bi but just chooses not to say it. This is one of the reasons I love Echo so much: unlike most other VNs, you are not Chase, Chase is his own person with his own past and ideals. All you are doing is influencing Chase's decisions, not making them for him.
I think it's a mix bc I could find the origins of some songs (i.e. the main theme, Awkward Meeting, Sunrise Without You, This Lingering Hope), but I couldn't find the origins of others (Reckoning, Argument, Crime Slow, Jenna's Theme), and I know some songs are definitely made specifically for the vn (Theme for a Lonely Wolf, When Your Arms Were Around Me)
A lot of it is royalty free music but there are also a number of original tracks, mainly from Abyuse and Moe. Moe also works on the music for Khemia and TSR.
wow thank you very much I didn't even ask for the names of the artists I was more than anything curious bc i heard some song on a random yt video, now this is good hospitality, you're all awesome <3
So i just finished flynns route and... what the hell?? I actually have no idea what the end means and i dont know if anyone has any idea. I mean, i suppose that he dreamwalked to the mine and meanwhile he was having those allucinations but they just seem so nonsense. Is there any theory of what could have happend?
From what I can tell and what others have said around the internet, I think it goes like this.
Spoiler!
Flynn started hallucinating when him, Carl and Daxton where at the lake, he could no longer see them. He mentions feeling like someone was tugging on his shirt, that was the other two trying to get his attention. He thinks he went to the smoke room, but he really went to the mine. An evil entity posing as Sydney entered his mind and led him into a fire in the mine. He gets all burned up and Carl and Daxton see him! The entity takes him through time where he loses more of his body until he becomes the monster! If you saw the ending image, thats all thats left of Flynn. He became undead under the control of the evil within Echo.
I could be off, but thats how it seemed to me, very tragic...
Whether or not the entity is evil is up to debate. It could also be interpreted as the entity has absorbed Sydney before and now is absorbing Flynn. Why this is the case is not clear. But we do see that Flynn sometimes can make his own decision as the socket monster, so it could be interpreted that the entity needed Flynn to help it protect Jenna and/or oppose the other eviler entities.
Yeah, I don't claim to know for sure. It is really weird and kinda confusing what happens! And yeah I forgot that Flynn still has some control sometimes.
I'm sorry if you need trasnlate this, but my english is a shit.
Doesn't have nudity so far, the most I've seen is characters in their underwear. The R18+ is probs less about porn (though there are some written-only sexy times but overall they're few and far between) and more about the darker themes the devs probs feel aren't appropriate for minors:
"Echo contains themes of an adult nature, including violence, torture, drug usage, and harsh language - you must be 18 or older to play."
I don´t think so, even though in the images on the image files of the game are nude sprites, I didn´t saw them in the game (I haven´t played all routes yet, but yeah)
You open the main folder of the game, click on the folder that says Images. A ton of images will appear, and you can see them, becareful cause some of them has spoilers.
I would like that in Jenna's route if we say that if we are gay Leo and Chase we would be a couple again, I understand that it is Jenna's route but regardless of everything in my opinion Leo really loves Chase (although somewhat obsessive), so it would be great if they could end up together again on this route or not end in goodbye forever, both ends of Leo's route left me heartbroken.
I want to see that too! It would make sense for that to happen!
Leo's route endings really made me sad! Like I get that he has some big problems, but underneath he's a really great and loving guy! If Chase had been smart and tried to comfort and calm Leo, they could have been together forever!
I wrote my own Leo ending and have it online if you want to read.
No offense but how can some readers miss the point of Leo's route so badly? It read like a reality check on how dangerous sticking around in toxic relationships, staying with a mentally ill person and not moving on can be. Echo is not a happy dating sim where years' worth of emotional and mental issues can be fixed with love. If you want that, then look elsewhere because you'll get your heart broken again and again.
Understatement of the century! It's not something cute like plain ol' love, Leo has a psychotic obsession. Yes, people want to blame Echo (the town) but both in Leo's and Jenna's route, the game makes it crystal clear that Leo had all those issues (like a laundry list of common abusive/toxic traits) but Echo just amplified them. Leo is bound to stay toxic even if he and Chase left Echo- Leo's dismissive of psychiatric care so forget therapy or couples counseling. Leo has proper mental issues that lurve will not fix, in fact, him clinging on "love" made him worse.
Take it easy man, it was just an opinion and although I agree with you, keep in mind that Leo during his route does not recognize or realize that he has a problem, it is until one of his ends when he realizes that he has that . In Jenna's route is when Leo finally realizes, it is the first step to treat a problem and if there are people with PTSD (which can last up to a lifetime) who have managed to overcome this disease then I do not see why Leo should not . And sorry if my English is bad, it is not my native language.
First of all, your English is not bad at all so don't apologize or worry about it. Second, I'm not intending to sound mad, this is a discussion among fans- I probably sound harsher since you can't hear my tone of voice.
Anyway, it's not that I think Leo can't get better. The problem is Leo doesn't believe in getting help because he's stubborn and proud. Yes, it's true that in Jenna's route, he at least admits his faults and that's important.
You used PTSD as an example. People who learn to manage their PTSD get professional help and at some point admit they need it. While Leo doesn't have PTSD (some people think he's a psychopath but I disagree with that too), he hasn't started with the important step yet and that is admitting his troubled behavior is a problem he can't deal with on his own. Maybe he will, maybe he won't.
I can't see how Leo could ever have a healthy relationship with Chase, given that Chase is the reason Leo went insane. Even if Leo got help, it will never be the same again. Especially in Jenna's route so far, where Chase is developing feelings for Jenna and is now put off by Leo's toxic behavior. Chase doesn't give mixed signals anymore. It's sad but they won't work and forcing them to work is wasting the point Leo's route was trying to make.
Hey there! I have to say that after going through it again and thinking about it, that I do understand Leo's route ending now. I see how Leo has truly series problems and that maybe he and Chase could never be together again. But I still find it sad that Leo has to have all that emotional pain for two years and possibly a lot more! Also the ending made it seem that he would never find someone to love again, and he might never be happy again for a very long time! I get that it showed its best to let go of a toxic relationship, but I actually really liked Leo and it would be nice if he has a happier ending somehow!
Heya! It's understandable, Echo is one of those games you could read through three more times and probably find something new. Like I said before, I understand where the Leo fans are coming from but yes I passionately believe it's for the best that Leo and Chase never end up back together. Plus Echo is not the game to look for happy endings lol. I think us fans having mixed opinions about Leo just shows how well Echo's writers did with him. It's hard to make a guy like him sympathetic but they did it!
I just finished every route for Echo, all of route 65, and all of the current build for The Smoke Room. I can't even keep track of how much time it took, but probably like 35 hours in total. It's really amazing that all this quality content is available for free.
I would highly highly recommend playing Route 65 and The Smoke Room before playing Echo. They made my playthroughs that much more intense. The order I played through everything was Leo -> The Smoke Room -> Route 65 -> Flynn -> Carl -> TJ -> Jenna.
If I were to recommend an order to play it would be: The Smoke Room -> Route 65 -> Carl -> Leo -> Jenna -> TJ -> Flynn
Leo's route was probably the most gut-wrenching. Like I felt sick after finishing it and I couldn't start the next route until a few days later. Which is wonderful for a horror game. Unfortunately, I just was not satisfied with the ending, it felt very quick and I was like, oh, that's it?
Flynn's route had to be hands-down my favorite. The ending just had me in complete constant full-body chills. It was extremely intense. Definitely recommend playing this after all the other routes.
Carl's was pretty good. The most unique of all the routes I'd say. It shares the least amount of story with the other routes, so that's why I recommend it first. I wasn't a fan of Raven though, he just annoyed me whenever he spoke.
TJ's route was the least enjoyable for me, unfortunately. I don't want to be rude, but this one felt kind of unfinished. Or like it was still in the drafting phase. And Julien was like an even more annoying version of Raven lol. Although I really enjoyed how Chase's character evolved and the ending.
Jenna's route is a close second to Flynn's. So many super super creepy moments giving me full-body chills. I was so stunned and creeped out that it started making me emotional, like I was feeling sensory overload or something. It was very intense. This one is filled to the brim with references to Route 65 and TSR.
Anyway, thank you TheEchoProject for making this game and releasing it for free. I really really enjoyed it. I can't wait for the future updates to Echo and TSR!
I'd recommend new players to play TJ's route first though. It only really works if you play it first because (as someone who played it first) all the way through it forces you to think about what kind of horror story it is, whether the voices are real, and the plot twist at the end is very satisfying without being tipped off by the other routes.
I suppose. I think it could go either way. In my playthroughs, I always had this lingering doubt about what really happened. Was it Chase? Was it socketman? Was it a possessed Chase? Was it something entirely different? And it finally gets resolved in TJ's route. But if you play TJ first then you don't have that mystery/suspense factor anymore. But I also understand the shock value of the twist is probably a lot greater if you play his route first.
I'd say that there still is the mystery/suspense factor if you play TJ first. In this case, the question isn't about whether it was Chase who killed Sydney, but it becomes a question of who wrote the letter and treasure hunt. After playing the other routes, we know that multiple monsters exist within Echo and so every time something supernatural happens we, the reader, just blame the monsters. But since they aren't explored in TJ's route, my suspicion bounced around between Carl, Flynn, TJ, and even Chase himself. So it was very surprising to learn that I had failed to consider the possibility of Sydney (as the socket monster) or another monster being the author of the letter. And it made me immediately want to go back and try other choices and routes to see if I can learn more about the monsters.
It's never made clear who wrote it, but it definitely wasn't Flynn since Flynn didn't recognize the real final letter when Chase showed it at the lake. Chase only made the fake letter. Therefore I speculate that it's likely created by one of the mysterious Echo entities, which would explain why the letter could look old and is written in Sydney's style but touched on evens after his death.
afaik there's only one Flynn ending, and the reason it's not clear is because from what I understand they're planning to follow up the route with the next VN in the series called Arches
I can't seem to find the new art that's included in update 52? the one where chase says "you're asking me to choose" nor the conversation , is it in a future update instead?
At some point in Flynn's route, you can find a framed picture but you can actually find 3 different ones, does anyone know how to get the second one out of the 3? (second one that appears when you click on the picture in the gallery and then click again). I already have the others.
Depends on if you decide to talk with Dex or Leo, a different one will be there, I tried a few different things to try and get the one I'm missing but I can't find the right thing.
I played it and it is... Hmm, How can I say this, a bit chilly and nerving, however intriguing. But sadly, I only played it half through, I got some project coming that needs storing and Echo takes up a lot of space so I have to Uninstall it at the meantime.. But I'll download it back soon, in the meantime.. IT IS what they said it is! And I loved it, although I was confused of Leo, a wolf? He is? I kinda thought of him as just a hunky fox or just a plain orange canine.. Anyways, totally worth it and I difinitely recommend this for those who wants their hearts broken.
I just finished Echo a few minutes ago after about 6-8 hours of playtime. I kind of have mixed feelings about it, but I'm mostly happy with my experience. I would give my playthrough an 8/10.
I'm seeing in the other comments that every character seems to have their own route, and I haven't even seen half of the screenshots on this page during my playthrough. I played through Leo's route, but I'm excited to try the others!
Positives: The writing is superb as I've come to expect from EchoProject. The spookiness and tension are really effective. It's a real "page-turner". I felt like the characters were all interesting and unique with their own personalities. In VN's, a lot of the time the choices don't really change a whole lot, but in this game, it seems like your choices have a really big impact. The illustrations are incredible. There are parts of my playthrough that made me sick to my stomach, which is really great for a horror story. The music and sound effects are really nicely used. The UI is also really unique and clearly a lot of effort when into it.
Criticisms: I wasn't really "satisfied" with the ending I got, unfortunately. And I felt like there were a lot of questions and interesting things brought up, but that never got answered/resolved. The game being in 480p took some time to get used to. I didn't mind the fact that the backgrounds just seemed to be real photos with a painterly filter on them, but it did take away some of my emersion when the background lighting did not match the time of day as it was described in the text, Leo's bedroom being one of the biggest culprits. Also, like 3/4 into the game, I started seeing a lot of spelling mistakes.
Comparing this to Adastra is not really possible, and I've only done one playthrough of Echo, so my opinion might change later. I'd say in terms of atmosphere, this game is stronger.
trust me... you're gonna love the rest of the routes. if you haven't done route 65, do so BEFORE jenna and flynn's routes !! it's optional for TJ and Carl's, but is really good to have finished before Jenna and TJ's :]
All routes in the game are either bittersweet or straight up depressing...there are no “true” happy endings. I mean Jenna’s route isn’t finished so who knows?
Not really? It’s stated that the only ones who are still friends are Chase, Leo, and Jenna. As the others have stopped talking to each other completely.
I think Leo is one of the tamer routes. For new players I always recommending starting with TJ's route first. Flynn's route is also very interesting, and a good followup to TJ's route.
What part of getting manipulated, kidnapped, tortured, and (depending on which choice you make) getting your legs ripped off by a speeding train defines Leo’s route being “tame?”
It's because of all of those things that make it tame. Those events make it hard for the reader to relate and therefore the psychological side of the horror is a lot downplayed here. I love Echo because of the psychological horror and unlike the other routes Leo's route is almost regular horror (which don't really scare me at all). It also doesn't involve the Echo mysteries much compared to the other routes, so if you play it first it doesn't give you that itch to replay the other routes to figure out the entire mystery.
This is one hell of a VN, really lingers with you. I noticed some typos in the route I'm playing, if you're interested in going over them. Otherwise, an amazing piece of work!
They reached their goal on Patreon to hire an editor, so I'll leave that up to them. Whatever little quirks I noticed didn't distract from an amazing story, and I still have most of the branches left to go.
God.. I still haven't played this game yet and it's been a week since.. But don't worry, I have intentions of playing it soon.. The only problem with me is that, I still can't move on from ADASTRA!
can someone help TwT. I am desperate to cure my illness.
Quick question, does this game have LGBTQ+ characters/romances? Just to be clear I am not asking because I would have an issue if it does, I actually am hoping that it has some of these since I enjoy the inclusivity.
I just went through Leo's route again, and even though I understand the ending better and the point and moral of it... I can't help it, just too sad!
(spoiler)
I know Leo was being a total jerk by lying to everyone and manipulating Chase, but in the epilogue he's been so hurt and crying everyday for almost two years! He has no plans or ambitions, he's just living. It seems the reason he wasn't suicidal was because he hopes Chase might visit him someday. Like I get that his obsession was not healthy and led him to become dangerous but it seems like he could never find love again and will carry deep grief and depression for many years if not the rest of his life! Also even though Chase says he will visit again, it's very unlikely as he's moving like across the country! When my childhood friend moved just fifty miles away, I was never able to visit him! I get what the ending means and the point of it, but it's so sad that I'm writing Leo ending c and do intend to try pitching it to Echo project if I am satisfied with how it turns out! Given how lonely my life is, if someone I was attracted to became obsessed with me it would a be truly strong temptation to just go with it!
Jenna is awesomeeee. XD Your stories are truly breathtaking! I love Aedestra. Wish there could be a sequel. You really know how to make it great. I love the story and the plot. It really is so good that good stories are continuing! I sort of wished there was cg art for jenna too. She is so beautiful. But I understand.
I'm seriously considering trying this game out since the art style looks superb and the story seems like something that's right up my alley. But before I make any decisions I have to ask, are there any NSFW scenes/content? When I say that I mean like sexual or explicit content. Having or not having that kind of stuff isn't going to be my deciding factor but I just want to know exactly what I'm getting myself into. Can anyone please help clear this up?
There is written NSFW content for some routes but I can't remember there being any explicit CGs, has been a while since I last played, however. Not sure if they were used but I remember there being clothless and barely covered sprites in the files too, so they might make an appearance.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped clear this up this question for me. I have only one more question before I try this game, are their any happy/uplifting endings? It just seems like this game is going to be pretty heavy and grim at times and I'm curious if their are any paths one can take that lead to a less then horrifying fate for the character(s).
Just one uplifting ending,. Go for the Ram route. if you new to echo I recommend Carl route first then Leo -> TJ -> Flynn -> Jenna, and don't you dare play TJ or Jenna route first since it will reveal a huge plot!
Something is not right with the latest Android build. Going to be hard to get a screen capture for someone not technically inclined like myself, but I will see what I can do. It keeps crashing during the prologue when I start a new game.
Does anybody have an online link to the song "One Last Kiss"? I found it in the game files and I absolutely love it, even though I have no clue where it shows up ingame, and I would die to be able to listen to it on the go.
I just finished the Carl's route, and I didn't understood the ending, until I saw there are more endings. Is there some like tutorial of how to get into every character's route? I don't have any idea of how to change the routes =/ (just getting into the routes, I know that some routes has 2 endings)

Hey guys, i just finished Flynn's route. I don't understand. Can somebody tell me what's going on? I still don't know how Sydney died and what happened to chase, carl, jenna, dax and leo. What the hell happened?
I feel this VN was a big mistake, at least for me... :(
(spoiler)
Yeah, should have paid attention to the warning at the top of this page then!
Anyway Flynn's ending bothers me too, like there should be another option! Leo's ending too, I wish there was another option
Agree
Spoilers!!!!
Ah!, Thanks i must've not payed enough attention
Contains spoilers
****Major spoilers ahead ****
(SPOILERS)
That's very possible! , or maybe he would crack for good and keep pretending with full intensity after that.. It's a heavy blow how the ambulance/police are only slightly late, when chase hears them before passing, I'm real curious about the presence that was staring at him though xx I have my doubts but they are most unlikely
I'm hoping there would be a continuation to this ending in Arches, but I highly doubt it.
wether it happens or not, I feel like we definitely need to see Leo in the next game, he is pretty much the mascot of echo ^^; would feel weird if we didn't get a glimpse or a mention at least.
(spoilers)
Hmm, I really think the hysteria would fade and Leo would see reality and chose to join Chase.... I kinda find that a better outcome then Leo being in psychiatric prison for the rest of his life! I wonder if the thing he saw was the socketman?
I don't know about that, I think only Chase is going to be seen in Arches. I hope maybe Leo is shown though, and he has a better outcome and isn't depressed for life.
Judging from Flynn's endings, I don't think Leo will show up since in one variation of the ending Leo moved out of Echo, while in another he's still in Echo.
Yeah, maybe not then. Too bad...
This is SO GOOD OMG, I didn't expect this game could be like this. From the start, it just ehh
But the more I read the more I curious abt the story. Just hoping there are more decisions to the game. But still a good game.
Man, I did not expect this VN to hit THIS hard, I just finished my first route(TJ's) and I don't think I can read the others.. just yet. I just gonna have an emotional shutdown for a week before I might continue with the other routes
HO MY GAHD!!! 🤯
very compelling, immersive, but this was intensely depressing to get through. the depiction of rural decay, the effect of living in such a setting on the characters, hits very hard.
definitely reading the other stuff by echoproject, but also -- any recommendations for something a bit more cheerful, idealistic? ;-;
I would say Adrasta, but there are still sad moments in it but not as intensely as Echo
lol.
PS forgive any spelling and grammar errors.
I think Echo is an amassing story and hope the smoke room will become just as great!
I thought that was so sad too! Samuel is an cool character, and even though the smoke room isn't finished, we already know how his story ends!
Is there any way I can play this on my iPad or iPhone????
Not at the moment, sorry. Renpy games do not like IOS.
Just finished my first playthrough of the game... probably shouldn't have started with Flynn's path 0_o
All you are doing is influencing Chase's decisions, not making them for him.
true I agree. Still. It’s nice to know. But I’ll love to see the story. Like a background etc. I’ll see if I can contact
nope
Someone knows whether echo's ost was made by echoproject or they're originally from other people?
I think it's a mix bc I could find the origins of some songs (i.e. the main theme, Awkward Meeting, Sunrise Without You, This Lingering Hope), but I couldn't find the origins of others (Reckoning, Argument, Crime Slow, Jenna's Theme), and I know some songs are definitely made specifically for the vn (Theme for a Lonely Wolf, When Your Arms Were Around Me)
A lot of it is royalty free music but there are also a number of original tracks, mainly from Abyuse and Moe. Moe also works on the music for Khemia and TSR.
https://anthemics.bandcamp.com/music
https://mobile.twitter.com/moemusician?lang=en
Couldn't find anything for Abyuse though, it seems like they deleted their profiles.
wow thank you very much I didn't even ask for the names of the artists I was more than anything curious bc i heard some song on a random yt video, now this is good hospitality, you're all awesome <3
I finished yesterday to play Leo's route
I wanna cry
It made me cry!
Too sad, I wish if you chose not to look at Leos phone it would change the ending or something...
Same!!
Yeah... I mean I get the meaning behind the ending and such. But really thats so sad! Leo should get another chance!
none options give us the chance to be happy with him :(
Yeah, its pretty sad, but the meaning of the ending is that you have to let go of nostalgia and such..
Flynn's route ending, truly is weird!
Might be a small spoiler or something but,
Chase should've stayed a little longer in the Smoke Room
no :)
um I was confused as to where the smoke room is or what it is o.I I’ve only played jennas and tj routes so far
Does this game have nudity?
No clue, I was gonna ask the same question.
Doesn't have nudity so far, the most I've seen is characters in their underwear. The R18+ is probs less about porn (though there are some written-only sexy times but overall they're few and far between) and more about the darker themes the devs probs feel aren't appropriate for minors:
I don´t think so, even though in the images on the image files of the game are nude sprites, I didn´t saw them in the game (I haven´t played all routes yet, but yeah)
how do you get the image files
(I open it on win.zip)
You open the main folder of the game, click on the folder that says Images. A ton of images will appear, and you can see them, becareful cause some of them has spoilers.
What about Android? :/ There's no stock about the game, so i can't find those pictures.
No.
--- Possible spoiler ---
I would like that in Jenna's route if we say that if we are gay Leo and Chase we would be a couple again, I understand that it is Jenna's route but regardless of everything in my opinion Leo really loves Chase (although somewhat obsessive), so it would be great if they could end up together again on this route or not end in goodbye forever, both ends of Leo's route left me heartbroken.
*** LEO AND JENNA ROUTE SPOILERS ***
And it made me immediately want to go back and try other choices and routes to see if I can learn more about the monsters.
spoilers for tj's route i guess
...who wrote the letter and treasure hunt?? wasn't it literally revealed that flynn and carl worked on it. chase made the last letter that's found,??
It's never made clear who wrote it, but it definitely wasn't Flynn since Flynn didn't recognize the real final letter when Chase showed it at the lake. Chase only made the fake letter. Therefore I speculate that it's likely created by one of the mysterious Echo entities, which would explain why the letter could look old and is written in Sydney's style but touched on evens after his death.
Thanks for the input! TSR is its own separate thing for the most part, but I agree with your route order selection!
- McSkinny
pleeeese do a reunion in the game adastra
And if there is one planed will it be adastra or the continuation one ?
Hello, i didn't understood very well what happened in Flynn's route, there's is more endings? because there is a lot of options in this route, thanks
afaik there's only one Flynn ending, and the reason it's not clear is because from what I understand they're planning to follow up the route with the next VN in the series called Arches
so, the flynn route may be the real one? like, thinking in history? that's a little sad
well it could also be a zelda situation where you have multiple timelines
LINK CONTAINS SPOILERS: https://www.reddit.com/r/FurryVisualNovels/search?q=echo+flynn&restrict_sr=on&in...
Some users explain stuff pretty well there, including stuff about Flynn. I agree with a lot of it.
I can't seem to find the new art that's included in update 52? the one where chase says "you're asking me to choose" nor the conversation , is it in a future update instead?
I *think* it might be in the Leo route?? Don't quote me on that though.
(Might spoil a bit)
At some point in Flynn's route, you can find a framed picture but you can actually find 3 different ones, does anyone know how to get the second one out of the 3? (second one that appears when you click on the picture in the gallery and then click again). I already have the others.
i only found one! the one at chase old home. How do i find the others?
Depends on if you decide to talk with Dex or Leo, a different one will be there, I tried a few different things to try and get the one I'm missing but I can't find the right thing.
SPOILER:
It depends on whether you have sex with Flynn in the smoke room
Cool! Thanks! I just did it, didn't notice the difference at first but I got the one I was missing.
Leo is a manned wolf. Their native to south America. I never heard of them before playing Echo.
Also yeah, very spooky feeling!
I'm a little embarrassed to ask this but, will there be an option where the character can be "intimate" with Leo?
No
Potential spoiler:
I just finished leo's route in which you tell him "no". Im the only one who cried when you come back to say goodbye... Forever?
Nope, I thought it was so sad and wished there was another option! Since there isn't I made my own fanfic about a third option!
Wait until you try Jenna route ;)
Unfortunately...that’s just how it is with Echo.
POTENTIAL SPOILER:
All routes in the game are either bittersweet or straight up depressing...there are no “true” happy endings. I mean Jenna’s route isn’t finished so who knows?
I feel like Carl's route has one that can almost be called "Happy" but depends on what you consider that
Not really? It’s stated that the only ones who are still friends are Chase, Leo, and Jenna. As the others have stopped talking to each other completely.
Yea but many of the other routes have WAY worse outcomes that this one doesn't
Otherwise, an amazing piece of work!
theres a bunch if typos! i have a long message from about 12 days ago i think with only some that I found lol
They reached their goal on Patreon to hire an editor, so I'll leave that up to them. Whatever little quirks I noticed didn't distract from an amazing story, and I still have most of the branches left to go.
Wait....If I kill Flynn in TJs route what will that be?
Spoiler?
Jus t do it..
Most of the romances in the game are m/m, with the exception of Jenna's route which is m/f
There is an option to determined Jenna as lover or just gay bestfriend. (Choose 'I'm gay' when she asked)
in the tags it says queer, yaoi and gay !! other than jenna's route, all of the routes you can go down are mlm :)
i'm quite intrigued - why do carl, leo and tj have nude sprites in the files?
more specifically, why does carl have a ton??
But I understand.
echo project pleASE what is chase's eye colour???
cgs make it look brown, his sprite is red, and flynn says his eyes are yellow??
This confused me too. I reread that part a few times before just thinking "whatever, maybe it's a mistake."
chase has brown, red, orange and yellow eyes
flynn also has changing eyes! blue in some cgs, green in his sprite
It's kinda odd.
Remember, the eye colour can change depends the light intensity
Good explanation.
good point, but.. how does it become red, orange, yellow and brown?
I'm seriously considering trying this game out since the art style looks superb and the story seems like something that's right up my alley. But before I make any decisions I have to ask, are there any NSFW scenes/content? When I say that I mean like sexual or explicit content. Having or not having that kind of stuff isn't going to be my deciding factor but I just want to know exactly what I'm getting myself into. Can anyone please help clear this up?
There is written NSFW content for some routes but I can't remember there being any explicit CGs, has been a while since I last played, however. Not sure if they were used but I remember there being clothless and barely covered sprites in the files too, so they might make an appearance.
chase has sprites that are only in his boxers, others have shirtless sprites, sex and masturbation is in the writing, but that's about it
Thank you so much to everyone who helped clear this up this question for me. I have only one more question before I try this game, are their any happy/uplifting endings? It just seems like this game is going to be pretty heavy and grim at times and I'm curious if their are any paths one can take that lead to a less then horrifying fate for the character(s).
Just one uplifting ending,. Go for the Ram route. if you new to echo I recommend Carl route first then Leo -> TJ -> Flynn -> Jenna, and don't you dare play TJ or Jenna route first since it will reveal a huge plot!
in my opinion, it depends on who you get attached to.
if you're immediately attached to tj, go for him first because his hurt the most for me.
don't go for flynn first, leave him and jenna for last (and play Route 65 before going through their routes).
Thanks ^^ ♡♡
