could cameron have more anguished poses? it feels as if the holding his jaw is overused and loses its effect somewhat. this story is certainly more horror intensive than earlier echo stories, and thats fine.

(+2)

when does the next update come out frrr

I really liked arches a lot and a story that caught my attention, I finished it a little while ago but I wanted to know the chronological order of the story so that I understand better, echo and arches are connected stories if it is I will see echo now, could you answer mine doubt ?
(+3)

They are sort of connected.

Arches takes place after Echo, but the events of Echo happened different in the "history" of Arches.

It's complicated, there is a multiverse timeline thing going on.

(-1)

I wanted to know the beginning of everything the beginning of the whole story, the correct order for me to see the stories if it's not too much trouble, could you tell me the chronology of the stories the beginning of everything?
(+1)

I would say smoke room is probably the very first one, then route 65, echo, and lastly Arches... Dont quote me on this, I have no idea if all the histories would match up and whatnot becuase I haven't played ones yet.

Thank you very much, it really answered the doubt I had for a long time ❤

No problem!:D

(+2)

The smoke room is first, then route 65, then benefits, then Echo and last Arches.

The endings do not actually lead  into the next one however, because of the weird multiverse thing.

Oh that's funky... Man, I really wish their was a cannon ending for them all.. And I just want to know what happens after TJs path.

Its a multiverse, so all possible outcomes are cannon!

There is a ton of fanfictions about Echo.

(+2)

Chronologically it is the following:

The Smoke Room-1915

Route 65-2008

Echo-2015

Arches-2020

However if you are looking for an order to read the story in I recommend starting with Echo and slipping Route 65 in the middle of your echo playthrough. After you are done with Echo you should be good to go with Arches or the Smoke Room as both of these are still in development, while Echo and Route 65 are completed. I highly recommend following the release order, but following Chronology can also be a good way to go if you are alright with The Smoke Room not being finished yet. Read however feels right to you!

(+7)

I really like the first CG when devon wraps an arm around cam,I think they belong to each other, and I wish they can reach the end together

Is the 0.4.5 0 bytes android update a mistake

If an Android user gets theirs working pls lmk how ರ_ರ

Still can't download load this on my android some reason, the smoke room , the orginal eco I can download and it opens but archive I can download but can't open

Deleted 1 year ago

I had to uninstall my previous version and then install the new one to fix that for me

(+2)(-1)

The newest uploads have been so good, my bussy literally got scared from my own reflection on the screen.

(+5)

i wonder which route did they choose to be the cannon one for arches

(+4)

The answer is probably 'none', but I have to say it's definitely not Leo or Jenna for spoiler reasons I won't go into, but if you've played Echo you know.

(+2)

It like every routes combine together lol

(+1)

The way... that old man was talking (like no one investigated 5 years ago) I'm tempted to agree on that "none".  But then what was the crew doing?

(1 edit)

Sooo... the dungeon crew are alive?  No names please for spoiler avoiders sake.

Oh.  And no title cards?  For chapters or days I mean.

Arches does not follow any specific route from Echo, if that's what you're trying to reference

I was under the impression about half of them died in each route and yet here they are.

I tried downloading the android version it won't let me open this one but eco and the smoke room it will

(1 edit) (+1)

Is part 5 coming out soon? I'm eager to see the next part

(1 edit) (+4)

Arches Build 5 is available since today on patreon, it will be probably in public in 30 days or less (minimum 14 days)

Thanks it sucks to wait but at least I know its coming

but there is one issue, you can see full download link to build 5 on patreon

(1 edit) (+3)(-4)

replaying this VN made me realize one small issue in the story, and is about how badly characterized Arty is

he is the deffenition of a clueless idiot ho doesn't know how to read the room, and does make it ruin certain parts of the story i feel would have worked well if Arty was better characterized or missing all together

i understand wanting to have a light hearted character to balance the mood, but it would have worked better if Arty was more of a useful third party that helped balance the relation ship between Cameron and Devon

Example: Giving how controlling Devon is, Arty could be that friend for Cameron ho allows the coyote to be more care free while also letting Arty have some opinion on their relation ships that could either serve to connect or distance the couple, it would have also serve better if it was Arty ho helped Cameron on certain scenes to give the idea that he is not just their for the ride. (like the part where Cameron nearly dies, Devon may have lost it and it is Arty ho helps by calming Devon and actually knowing about CPR or something like that)

(+7)(-1)

To be honest, I think being a clueless idiot actually makes him a better fit here since a main story point is nobody took this seriously enough, he shows up to collect the other characters after a crash, not give them couples therapy after an actual haunting.

(1 edit) (+1)(-1)

I mean dude this game is pretty dark. I think Arty is comic relief/character revealer for Devon. He know a lot about Devon that Devon would never reveal by himself. We get to hear about past Devon before a relationship stabilized him.

Plus I find his character amusing

Uh...ive been having issues installing this can anyone help? Space isn't an issue and I'm using a kindle

(+8)(-2)

Arches has had four updates released for it and I think I can properly enumerate on my thoughts regarding this VN. To begin with, while this VN is a sequel to Echo, the developers have made it clear that this is a separate story from the aforementioned VN, so don't expect to see Chase or any of the other main 5 from Echo in this one.

Arches as a standalone story is fucking incredible. Howly and McSkinny have really come a long fuckin' way in terms of programming and all that technical jazz that wasn't so good in their first VN. As for the writing itself, it's amazing. If I had to describe it, I'd say its told from a 3rd person omniscient narrator that switches back and forth between Cameron and Devon over the course of the VN (Think Virginia Woolf's To The Lighthouse). This is quite an interesting choice considering Echo was entirely 1st person present tense for the majority of the experience.

The effect this has on the narrative is amazing. We get to see both Cam and Dev's mindsets and thoughts as they experience all Echo has for them, both great and terrible. I particularly enjoy seeing from Cam's eyes. Just seeing from the POV of a person who has severe trauma as he experiences Echo's horrors is amazing. It's almost as if we are seeing through TJ's eyes, which was something I very much wanted to do in Echo

Just imagine it: We jump from Chase's mind to TJ's as Chase heads to Lake Emma to confront Flynn. Can you imagine the utter horror of seeing your friends fight over something that you know the answer to and then seeing one of your friends kill the other one. TJ's psyche is something I strongly wish we got to experience, even if just for a brief moment.

Arches has a completely different art style compared to Echo. Personally it has never bothered me in the slightest. In fact, I actually love the art style in this VN. If anything, the somewhat cartoonish art will only make the horror that much more potent. Sure, I love the janky ass art style of Echo, but it was very inconsistent and that was a negative for me. The art in this VN doesn't have that issue. And I fuckin' LOVE it.

Overall, Arches only proves to me that Howly and McSkinny both still have it. I'll give this VN 5/5 stars.

(+2)

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I think this one will really go places!

On another note, I don't believe McSkinny is involved with this project. Howly is the only writer for this one, but you can still tell he's grown as a writer since the early days of Echo for sure.

This make me feel real fear! I mean men its cool and have this situations you get a screamer but there is still somethings are missing, if this takes 5 years afte echo events then what was the real end in echo? I mean at least can touch a little bit about what happen 5 years ago, like idk maybe some easter eggs about parade about chase and his friends

Okay Im in a bit of a pickle I havent played this since the first build and currently playing on my kindle however I cant install the update so I deleted it now i cant even install the full thing space isnt an issue i have like 5 gigs left can someone perhaps assist me?

(1 edit) (+2)

to start, I'm loving this so far it still has that same great writing from Echo

however, the change of style and perspective was kind of a shock, while I like the cartoonish and light-hearted style, Echo's more rough and messy imagery made it fit with its horror atmosphere and the change from human-like to animalistic also change my perspective of how I see this visual novel, this is not a jab to the artist he is amazing, as for the perspective going from Chase first-person point of view to Cameron and Devon third person outside perspective did mess with my immersion as I feel more outside of the conflict compare to feeling like being in the paws of Chase or Samuel.

again don't take this as if I hate it cause I don't it's still amazing and the writing still has that Echo blunt realism that I love, just a few criticisms that i caught on

Deleted 2 years ago

Hi, so if you would like to play on phone you would need space and then download the android version on pc. once you have done that bluetooth the apk file to the mobile device. when its done sending go to your files and press apk, it should be there. then all you need to do is press it and wait for it to download.

Deleted 2 years ago

the android versions all crash for some reason i only manage to play the title before it locks out

(+4)

I super appreciate how Devon said that if he lost his relationship with Cameron after they've been together so long it would be "traumatic" like, I feel like that's the perfect word to describe it. It is such a small thing but I've never heard that word used in that context and it really helps strengthen my feelings for Dev and Cam's relationship, I very much hope they both make it out okay and still together

Game does not function on Android. Simply gives an "App not installed." Can't do anything about it.

Been having the same issue with a lot of new VN I think it has something to do with renpy.  I've been using JoiPlay to run the windows version.

What would be the best order that you would recommend to play Echo Visual Novels?

I want to read them, but I'm wondering if I start with a specific one it could alter the whole experience, or if they are connected in some way.

(+4)

Short answer: Echo -> TSR -> Arches

BUT

To my mind it is good idea to start with Arches, regardless of Arches being the shortest game so far.  (I want everyone to know that I'm not complaining, this VN is in my opinion tough 10/10 with plot, ost and characters) The problem that I had reading Arches was that I knew the main antagonist, some ghosts/spirits and every location, it might sound funny (for me it was xd) but when I was reading it I was like: oh, Cam and Dev are going to the ****, I wonder when they will ******. -5min later- There you go, knew it :)

For many people it might be good actually: to be so familiar with Echo town that you know in advance a lot of things that might happen to the cast even before they will know it, but I don't like spoilers and Echo VN is spoiling a lot. (I am aware that this familiarity could be deliberately implemented by creators, however not everyone has the same tastes.)

Second is Echo, no comment here <3

Third is TSR bc there is a few characters and events that won't ring you any bells. TSR is great in regard to expanding Echo world, but not necessarily learning about it from there.

Again, this is MY opinion why I would go for Arches at first, but if those aspects don't bother you then stick to my short answer up there :)

No matter the order, I'm telling you you won't regret any second spent in this world and that is something that everyone will tell you.

(+1)

TY for the feedback! It really helps a lot  :)

(+3)

I'm in full agreement with this recommendation!

I actually only got into the Echo project games around July when Arches was in Build 2, but it was the game that hooked me on the concept of Echo.

I went into Arches with no prior expectations, so the opening blew me away and made me so curious as to what would happen next. It is really interesting to see the town of Echo in the aftermath of whatever happened in the game Echo, and wonder... What happened?

I then went back to Echo (the game this time) and checked it out and enjoyed it thoroughly, but Arches still has my highest hopes and expectations and IMO still works as a good jumping off point.

However if you prefer there are a couple of other options for how to play the games:

1. Chronologically (In Universe): Start with The Smoke Room (TSR), go on to Echo, and end with Arches. I wouldn't really recommend this as both TSR and Arches are in development so this will be jarring jumping from the middle of TSR into Echo with no clear path to explain how one leads into the other yet (though I assume it will clear up as development progresses). Another issue with this is that both Arches and TSR expect you to have read Echo and mention some items that lead into speculation about how everything ties together.

2. Chronologically (In Real Life): Start with Echo and get a decent baseline for what can occur in these stories. You can supplement it with Route 65 (Highly recommended after Leo's route in Echo) and Benefits, both of which are short reads. From there you can go on to either Arches or TSR, though it is worth mentioning that TSR has a lot more content due to being further along in development. Both are interesting as they both act as sequels to the game of Echo, but act as prequels (TSR) or sequels (Arches) to the events that occur in the game.

3. Reverse Chronology (In Universe): I accidentally played this way, but it works really well to build up suspense and raise the tension of the mystery. In Arches you see the aftermath of whatever happened in Echo and wonder what possibly could have happened. In my playthough of Echo I could only wonder how this small town leads to the horrors I saw in Arches as I went through the everyday lives of Chase and his friends. And then the horror in Echo hits and it starts to explain some of the horrors that Dev and Cam go through in Arches. After completing Echo and Route 65, I moved back to TSR and have enjoyed seeing how the seeds of what happened in Echo and Arches were laid over 100 years ago and see how things could have shaken out differently.

TLDR: I totally agree with Drago, but hey it's fun to think of different reading orders for these novels, kinda like Star Wars watch orders. :)

(+1)

Thank you so much for the  recommendation and explanation of different scenarios. I will definitely think about which one could suit for my expectations as an avid reader. The only thing is that I need to organize myself  because I am currently reading more VN , and I would rather finish one first so I can dig into Echo Project xD

What about route 65?

(+1)

Route 65 works best played after completing Leo's route in Echo, but before you play TJ, Flynn or Jenna's routes (as it gives some interesting hints but no outright spoilers as to what is to come for those routes).

(+8)

Why do the characters have 4 fingers here and in Echo they had 5 fingers

(+4)

Oh my god...

(+4)

It most likely is due to an art style preference. For example, Adastra's characters have 4 fingers, while The Smoke Room's characters have 5 fingers.

It's either that or something removes a finger from everyone between 2015 and 2020 in the Echo Universe.

(1 edit) (+6)

The physique in Echo v novels (those in town Echo) are different, in TSR people are the most similar to humans: 5 fingers per hand , men genitals. (well, weird part is that the legs and paws in TSR are actually animalistic, but that s not the point here, you know what I'm saying)

on the other hand in Echo (benefits) we can clearly see the whole animalistic physique: paws instead of hands, paws instead of foots and the most important full animalistic genitalia. I know that from CGs its hard to tell that their whole body resembles more animal than human, but Chase spent some time during inner monologues when he was describing his friends physique and again, dongs are different in either games kek

Finally Arches and again full animalistic physique, however characters have 4 fingers like in cartoons.

To summarize I wouldn't mind the differences in how people body are build in Echo bc it just depends of design creators choose.

Edit: I made extra effort and found Duke spirits in echo and arches (he is the only character that is in both games so far) and he has 5 fingers in Echo and 4 in Arches what only confirms what I wrote :)

(+2)

um how can you leave build four on such a cliffhanger X'(

(+3)

So um I just finished build 4 and like bro this VN is making me go through a rollercoaster I swear and the cliff hanger holy shit- ... And now we wait again

Hey, I have a really silly question, because English isn't my first langauge--

Why sometimes in the visual novels, the past perfect tense is being used instead of the simple past tense? Like here:

"The smile of relief on Cameron's face seems to break the dam of emotion in Dev's chest. That wild look he'd had earlier, the one that had looked at him as if he were a stranger is gone. "

Why can't it just be "he had" and "looked"? For me there is simply not another time point in the past in this context that precedes the one associated with the "wild look".

I see this tense use a lot, not just in this visual novel. Please help me understand this, for I'm pretty serious about learning English.

Thank you! (BTW, this visual novel is SO TOTALLY AWESOME, literally the best I've ever played!)

If I'm remembering correctly, it's referring to when Cam was in the motel and paranoid that Devon was tricking him.

(1 edit)

Yo, English is not my first language either so if I am mistaken pls someone correct me.

Past perfect is used when you are talking about thing that lasted (not only happened) in the past and ended in the past. Just like dont uwu me wrote narrator was referring to the very specific event in the past that took place and now it no longer last. Example:

"The smile of relief on Cameron's face seems to break the dam of emotion in Dev's chest. That wild look he had earlier...

this is past simple and the wild look in this one is just a short glare, however Cam was making this face for a long time. There is more to Past Perfect but i am not enough informed to answer. Next one:

... the one that had looked at him as if he were a stranger is gone. "

in this one had is important because if you removed this word you would get this sentence: the one that looked at him as if he were a stranger is gone. Now we got a sentence where someone someone is looking at Cam and we know it is not a point.

I hope it is helpful and I haven't made fool of myself :)

(+1)

It's just a sublte difference, but the past perfect ties the sentence to a specific event in the past whilst the simple past leaves it open to many interpretions.

Hey the windows version of the game doesn't want to launch. When I click the launch icon in the game folder nothing happens.

I have no clue what caused this but it wasn't creating a log file when it launched. I just downloaded the game again and now its working and making a log file. That is a very weird glitch

(+4)

God damn it, what an evil way to cliffhang us, Echo Project :(((. I really enjoyed the music and sound design when it came to the horror.

(1 edit) (+4)

Inspired by the game, and after having previously played Echo, I felt inclined to contribute with a potential soundtrack. You guys have no obligation to use it, and I take no offense if you don't feel like it fits in the project. If on the other hand you like it, that's cool, and you can get in touch :)

I don't see a contact email anywhere here, or on Patreon..

(1 edit)

Edit: I've been playing Arches with music turned OFF without even realizing there are a bunch of great tracks already. Sorry for the ADD mistake. I think I was playing another Ren Py game and listening to spotify or something, and the settings stayed. The music by Anthemics is really good!

(+2)

This is still an eerie and interesting track. Would be happy to share it on the @EchoTheVN Twitter if you’re okay with that!

Thanks! Absolutely - you're more than welcome to do that :)

I just got a "Game updated 1 second ago" at my feed!

Damn, what a good timing!

Gonna read at night hehe

(+3)

When will the public update be released? (Sorry for my English)

(1 edit) (+2)

I found nothing wrong with what you wrote. 🙂🙂🙂

Right now :)

(+1)

Your English is quite fine. Even if it wasn't, no one would judge you ^ v^

(+11)(-1)

No matter how much you try, you keep coming back to Echo, huh ?

After finishing Echo (and its two sidestories) and playing The Smoke Room, I finally returned to that (not) fabulous city with Arches

I quite like the story and character chemistry so far. I'll might get booed for this but I think Cameron's a bit annoying, on the other hand Devon is adorable (it's also nice to finally see a bear in Echo that is not freaking Brian)

It's strange when you realize that the most sane characters overall in the Echo multiverse are the ones from the Smoke Room

Morale of the story ? Don't do meth kids, do opium.

(+2)

Of course! The only possible message here.

(+2)

I kinda get the vibe that we're not seeing Cameron's true personality in this story, I feel like everyone who goes to Echo has their personality warped and exaggerated if that makes sense? Like, it messes up how they react to situations and that messes up how we see the characters. But it does feel like somehow the readers just keep returning to Echo, we're always going in circles after all

(+1)

Has there been any updates with Echo Project?

(1 edit) (+2)

Well, if you'r talking about any updates then there was TSR update 2 days ago (for patreon). Alas, Arches had not got yet. If i'm not mistaken creators were moving out and that's why there is a lot of delays.

(+1)

The Smoke Room just got updated its newest update was released

(+1)

does the game have a facebook page?

I had been looking but didn't find anything :/

The same goes for Echo Project fc page, I couldn't find it either

(+2)

I don't think they have a Facebook page but the do have a twitter account right here. You can find their discord in there too.

https://twitter.com/echothevn

(+1)(-1)

it seem more a story then game

(+17)(-1)

Welcome to the world of Visual Novels

(+3)

Yeah visual novel focus a lot more on the story aspect, its still technically a game. But it could also just be called  a interactive story

(+3)

I have a little question to clear a doubt. Arches takes place 5 years after the events of Echo, right?

I believe so...

(+2)

At this point im very attached to Cameron and Devon,so much so that their relationship and development is the thing I enjoy the most rather than the action, however the action is good as always.
