I absolutely ADORE this game. The story is so well written and I sobbed so much during the games climax. I truly felt the emotions of the characters and my only gripe with this game is that I had to finish it so quickly. This is long VN, especially since it's a linear VN, about 15 hours to complete, for me at least. I spent the better part of two days completing this game (while trying to dodge family lol). I just hope I can one day find my own Amicus :)
I downloaded about 20 interesting looking romance visual novels without reading any summaries or comments. I've completed 5 of them, with just having finished Adastra tonight after about 10 to 15 hours total playtime (was hard to keep track of time, but this game is realllly long. I actually looked into it and this VN is about the same length as the first Lord of the Rings book.)
I just want to preface by saying I don't identify as a furry. I don't really know anything about furry culture, but Adastra is by far the best romance visual novel I have ever played in my entire life. The relationship with Amicus is probably the best-written romance I have ever experienced in a video game. The climax and conclusion made me sob harder than I've cried in quite a long time. I'm still quite shaken and am very sad that it's over.
All of the visual novels I've played usually follow some sort of formula. Like a lot of little choices, you choose your romance branch, and the story is fairly short. Adastra isn't like that at all, it's literally just a full-fledged novel that's put into visual novel form. My two small criticisms would be there there isn't really any transitions going from one "act" or "chapter" to another, it's all continuous, so you are sometimes forced to take breaks at awkward moments. Also at times, the pacing can become a little too slow and exposition-heavy. But these are pretty minor criticisms.
In fact, this game was so amazing that I'm scared to play my 15 remaining games because I'm scared that they won't be able to reach this level of quality.
Oh trust me if you downloaded 20 VNs and you think Adastra is great, then you might be a little surprised if you play the others, but don't set any high expectations going in to any VNs, that'll just end im disappointment, and enjoy them for what they are
Granted, I don't know any of the ones you've downloaded but if you want some recommendations then you'll give you some
If you haven't check out Far Beyond The World and Minotaur hotel, both has only one route and is pretty linear like Adastra so you might enjoy them.
My personal favorites are Tennis Ace and Password, Tennis Ace is just a slice of life type VN but god does the writer know how to make good characters and dialogue, Password is more like a some what murder mystery with some fluff and romance.
Kingguard and Echo have amazing stories, tho don't expect any good romance in Echo (echo was written by the same writer as Adastra and personally I prefer echo's writing more)
There's a crap ton more so you can look them up yourself but these are my personal recommendations
I just finished the story after starting it last night. I haven't cried so hard in a long time. Thank you for this. I can only hope for 2 things: We get a sequel or part 2, and I find a me a partner just like Amicus. Cause he's who I've been searching for that is sadly nonexistent.
I'm sorry if this information is known to everyone else. I've just marathoned my first play through of Adastra and I love it and I've never cried more at a work of fiction in my life. I noticed that it says the game is updated within the first two weeks of every month, but it's been 81 days since the last update. Does that mean that the game is finished, despite it's "In development" status?
adastra has finished. right now it says its in development so they can fix bugs and stuff. either way there is a sequel that is more aboit another wolf and neferu called khemia and it happens during the time where the human is on earth
im gonna go on a tangent about EchoProject's games. Spoilers
i have never played a visual novel before last month, and its all ive been touching since. This was was my first and i can honestly say its the best game ive ever played. the thing about EchoProject games, VS my usual fighting game, is fighting starts to get mundane. every problem comes to and end as soon as i pull out my rifle. every time i have the ability to end it quickly and alone. but not with a visual novel.
In a visual novel, your actions are limited to what the main character is capable of, you cant just beat down anything that poses a threat and call it a day. and even though VN's lack the 3D immersive experience, they still manage to make me quiver with situations like in Echo with Carl's weird basement thing. thats something my usual genre hasnt done in a very long time. And while Echo could certainly make me anxious, Adastra is a whole different story
Holy shit does Adastra make you want to cry. Echo will fuck with your perception (but maybe thats just Carl's route), but Adastra can fuck with your emotion. if it were a typical RPG, i would have offed Cato alot sooner for starters. As soon as Amicus filled me on on the whole ship accident charade on our way to Adastra, i was immediately suspicious of Cato's involvement. Doesnt it seem odd that the only person with the means to cause that "accident" also had the motive? what i didnt expect was Alex. i admit the situation with him being intelligent but being a pet was suspicious too but i ignored it because Cato felt like a bigger threat, sure he was a typical enemy for me, but i cant fight anymore, and recognizing his threatening status i ignored Alex. so its a good thing Neferu was there.
Anyways point is, EchoProject perfectly utilizes the albeit limited functions of the Renpy engine when compared to more advanced engines such as Source or Unreal to create an immersive and investive world every time.
thanks for listening to my dumb furry essay. Im gonna actually install the game now
...Okay, first of all, weaponry isn't the only marker of technological innovation, second of all, they have access to interstellar travel and have weaponized laser technology, do you honestly think that with their level of development that they couldn't replicate our weaponry?
I guess they are thanks to Bojack Horseman, a wonderful and incredible show they made. Six seasons of 12 episodes about an anthropomorphic horse and his friends in a world of humans and anthros living together. Bojack had been well known thanks to a show on the 90's and now he's trying to get back in the businness but for that, he must face the person he hates the most and fully : himself.
Hey just wondering if anyone could tell me if there will be another game continuing the story line because I just finished Adastra and I am really hopping there is
So is there a confirmed sequel to this game? I know Khemia is technically one, but that game's purpose is more to be a spinoff (or at least deviates from the main romantic plot that was the focal point of this game).
I'm more wondering if we'll ever see the human come back again. Sure, we did see scene of (spoilers) the parent's showing what life would look like in the future if the human were to follow their instructions clearly, but I feel like we still need a more true reward for the human's hard work (considering how we all felt at the end of the first game).
Sorry for asking such a loaded question. I just finished the game a couple minutes ago and I'm still taking everything in.
(P.S. to the developers, this was one of the best visual novels I have ever played. Thank you so much for making such a terrific game.)
I just finished Adastra and I just want to know: Are we going to have part 2? I just can´t hold that is over. Please if anyone knows if there´s part 2 or something tell me
theres a sequel called Khemia that is more about neferu and scipio and it is happening while the mc is still on earth. tho i still hope that after khemia they will make an Adastra 2
Thanks, I searched for it and I finished it too. I think the update is only in Patreon and I don´t havo money so... Anyways I also want Adastra 2, and hope the ´8 years on Earth´ are not litterally and have to wait 8 years for Adastra 2
Can anyone remind me the three (offensive?) words that means gay? The only one I remember is Flower... I know there two other more. Sorry, I don't know why I'm asking this really but somehow deep inside I really need the words.
O tnx u. Now I can finally sleep well.. I really don't know why I'm looking for the word.. but somehow my stomach keeps grumbling, tnx to u no more. :3
I finished the game about 20 minutes, and I still crying just by listening the menu song. I totally loved this. It actually helped me in someway to think with other perspective some daily stuff. It´s a beautiful story <3
Well, Khemia would be the second part, but it's still in development, I rather prefer to wait until it's finished, but I think they upload the actualizations every 2and week of every month or something like that.
I just played Adastra and finished it today, and to hear it's also Amicus's birthday is such a coincidence. Happy Birthday you wonderful lavender-smelling man! (I cried so much and this story and art was wonderful ;w;)

they have drones but we have guns and nukes why are we being integrated to the galixias again?
(Spoilery for new peeps, probably)
That would be why humans are being brought in as a Sibling level species vs a Child, because our technology is about at the sibling level already
they have swords and drones that shoots but we have tanks and chemical weapons and juggernauts
...Okay, first of all, weaponry isn't the only marker of technological innovation, second of all, they have access to interstellar travel and have weaponized laser technology, do you honestly think that with their level of development that they couldn't replicate our weaponry?
i was joking tho
preach my friend its a great game no its the game of the year
This story is one HELL of a ride for sure. Made my weekend even better! Till it end and I was met with a very hard gut punch...
Dammit! It just seem to long yet so short, It's just... Bittersweet. It's... A perfect way to end it... Everybody Equally.
fantastic ❤️
I just wonder if there is going to ba part 2
there is, look up khemia
It would be a greater experience if it was a movie but I think that will never happen
Who knows ? Now than Netflix Prime and the others are hungry of new concepts and seeing how gay friendly they are...
But theres your problem.
they may be gay friendly, but are they even us friendly? everyone has their weird limit, even if they say they dont, they do. its natural.
I guess they are thanks to Bojack Horseman, a wonderful and incredible show they made. I could not stop reading, and crying and crying. I read it over 2 days...I could not stop (well I stopped to go to bed).
Is there an Adastra Discord?

Only Danganronpa made me cry a lot...
But this more, and I loved it so much. The end is so awesome and still thinking to it, made me cry more.
Hey just wondering if anyone could tell me if there will be another game continuing the story line because I just finished Adastra and I am really hopping there is
Oh yes, is Khemia are on progress
this game is just like YES
I miss Amicus so ima play it again even though i know i will cry again
(some game spoilers ahead)

cassius is a real person https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaius_Cassius_Longinus
the most savage character in this game its the old wolf lady that slapped the emperors hand and slam the door on his face bruh im dead
I died laughing at that part too xD
I just finished Adastra and I just want to know: Are we going to have part 2? I just can´t hold that is over. Please if anyone knows if there´s part 2 or something tell me

Happy birthday amicus:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Can anyone remind me the three (offensive?) words that means gay? The only one I remember is Flower... I know there two other more. Sorry, I don't know why I'm asking this really but somehow deep inside I really need the words.
P.S belated happy birthday dear Amicus. <3 :3
i know of tailraiser. i dont remember if cock licker was one maybe i made it up jajajaj
O tnx u. Now I can finally sleep well.. I really don't know why I'm looking for the word.. but somehow my stomach keeps grumbling, tnx to u no more. :3
It can be used as a nice insult because Tail raiser and Flower can mean anything other than gay.
What do you mean?
be creative.
no problem, glad i helped
i miss 4 pictures in gallery is me only ?
I have completed the gallery by playing the part that I had saved during the options part.
I finished the game about 20 minutes, and I still crying just by listening the menu song. I totally loved this. It actually helped me in someway to think with other perspective some daily stuff. It´s a beautiful story <3
do you know if there will be more updates or is it like over over cause I don’t wanna finish it if it’s over I’m in love with it
Well, Khemia would be the second part, but it's still in development, I rather prefer to wait until it's finished, but I think they upload the actualizations every 2and week of every month or something like that.
Ah thanks for the info
Finishing the game took me 3 days, each of several hours of non-stop playing. It's incredibly long visual novel.
I just played Adastra and finished it today, and to hear it's also Amicus's birthday is such a coincidence. Happy Birthday you wonderful lavender-smelling man!
(I cried so much and this story and art was wonderful ;w;)
