From the way everybody talks about this, I expected a whole lot more. It's not bad, it's even pretty clever at times, but most of it is a very by-the-numbers romantic drama with pretty average characters. Plot holes are pretty common and so is unnecessary conflict. 6/10
Not gonna BS you and say the MC ain't the lecturing type, but that doesn't change the fact that some of the stuff Marco said wasn't right. Honestly, I don't think he went far enough speaking out against all the messed up stuff on Adastra. Maybe it's because if he did, he wouldn't have much reason to actually love Amicus. Adastra and the wolven empire are a complete disaster.
'Course it's valid criticism. My point is more about how almost every VN I read has this same dynamic where the main character is always criticising the other people's culture. I've just never seen it actually handled in a way where it has any importance to the characters themselves. In Adastra it seems to just be a way to generate conflict without giving either Marco or Amicus personality traits or opinions that can be disliked.
Like, if you really want to say something about women's rights then have the guts to make it an important part of the story, bake it into Amicus and let Marco change his mind or something. Tell us why Marco cares about it so much that he'd be willing to try and change the culture of an entire planet to make it happen.
That being said, there's no reason why you need real life issues in a story like this. It's a human falling in love with a gay sci-fi Roman wolf. Just let it be about the characters, it's more than enough.
install the .tar.bz2 package and extract it to your games folder or desktop, your distro should come with an archive manager. go into your terminal, type "cd " and drag the folder into the terminal. press enter and then type "./Adastra.sh" that should open up the game
I made an account just to comment here - I mean this when I say that this is the best "book" that I've ever read. The writing is so f*cking good that this occupies a permanent place in my mind. I was eating in a Mediterranean Fusion restaurant and looked up to see olive vines. I was immediately reminded of Adastra and was filled with such a strong feeling of sadness and of happiness - my absolute love for this universe and the sadness that there is no more of it to consume. I do not doubt that it will be expanded and I can repeat playthroughs but the feeling of first going through the pages upon pages of text is equal to nothing.
Got peer pressured into playing this, but I don't regret it. This is the only game that has made me cry, and easily the best story I've ever seen in a game.
Is there a 'no-graphic-images' mode? Doesn't need to be a 'sfw' mode, I know the sex can sometimes be inextricable from the story and the themes, I'm just hoping for a mode where I don't actually need to look at the D if possible. Came here on the recommendation of a Patricial Taxxon video, and I'm super interested in this story-wise, but...
*shit actually peoples having adastra brainrot are like jojo fans and seeing refferences and ripoff everywhere. fbtw is the prime example due to its popularity. TBH some part of it given me vibes of it especially in the begining so i completly understand why peoples thought of it but since recent updates especially for patreons (because it's been almost a year public didn't got any update) it litterally has nothing to compare to it.
i have been crying over amicus for a week now, i promised myself that i would forget him but here i am crying, it truly shows how amazing this game is, although there's this one question i always had in mind that needs to be answered, will amicus and marco reunite? i want to know, i NEED to know.
Small detail, but the human count is 8 billion now compared to when Amicus asked MC how many humans lived here after saying how many wolvens lived. I have this game in my mind for years so immediately when I heard the world population is now 8 billion I thought of Adastra XD
You too, huh? I know Marco is supposed to be a self-insert, but I think the game is best played if you avoid self-inserting at all cost. Without getting too into spoilers, I made that mistake my first time around, and had the same issues you did. I think having Amicus not being the one who kidnapped you would go a long way in making him an appealing love interest. Given the comments, though, maybe that's the draw.
Hey soo i played the game all the way up to the hot springs part on android, but now that I've downloaded the latest version for windows i cant choose what chapter to start on is this fixable or am i just dumb lol
I've got a question about your menu, like the save and load screen and options screen, I've seen many other types of games with this same type of screen and was wondering if you use a certain system or app to make this game?
This is my first time playing a VN in a longgg time and i gotta say, this is the best introduction to VNs for someone that is fairly new to it! and i hope to see more with khemia and interea! ^^
This was the first visual novel i ever saw, and im sad because i started with the best one first. Highly recommend, very interesting plot and cast of characters. I am in love with amicus.
Well, I guess this is me being 'that guy', but—keeping things vague so as to not divulge too much of the plot— it seems like whether or not you enjoy this VN hinges entirely on whether or not you like Amicus, and I'll confess, I don't really like him. Like, at all. Amongst other things, but that would get into spoiler territory. Regardless, the comments are mostly positive, so I'm glad that others enjoyed the game. I guess it just wasn't for me.
That being said, I'd love to see more about Virginia. Easily the best character in the game.
Fair enough. I like Virginia mostly because she has to deal with a lot of shit inherent in Adastran society that her brothers don't have to, and seeing how she navigates it is a very interesting story to me that sadly doesn't really get explored much. Though given this is a VN about hot bara wolf men I wouldn't really expect that subplot to get a lot of focus.
I'd probably like Cassius more if his initial reaction to Marco wasn't to immediately want him dead. I unno, he really didn't sell me enough on there being a good or understandable side to him to let me empathize with him despite his behavior.
I've more to say, but that's probably getting more into my personal hang-ups than legitimate critique of the story itself. Like I said, I'm glad other people enjoyed the game, even if it wasn't for me.
Hm, actually, no, I think I can better express what I meant there. When I say, "whether or not your enjoy this VN hinges entirely on whether or not you like Amicus," I mean that he's supposed to carry the entire story. Without him there's really no reason to care about the planet, er, moon Adastra and all the other stuff. It's a pretty place, but God damn, it is not somewhere you'd ever wanna live. I kinda wish they'd focused on that more outside of and without Amicus; that way he wouldn't have to carry so hard.
It's been 3 to 4 months since I downloaded this novel... It rly changed my life by opening the whole new world of content (especially furries). It was sincerely not the first time feeling being connected to the fictional character, but damn that was one of the most breathtaking and heartwarming :)
Tonight I was walking outside, listening to perfect imo OST to Adastra. "love" started to play and I decided to look at the sky. I saw so many bright stars... I started to fricking cry and laugh (of happiness I guess). I "saw" him there, I hope he is there. Somethere in the sky, in the space there is that Himbo wolf Amicus waiting for his Marco. Beautiful story, indeed.

Sadly there is only one language available if I'm not mistaken :(
Thank you for your help:)

"Make a furry VN without a judgemental, hypocritical MC lecturing everyone about equality" challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Not gonna BS you and say the MC ain't the lecturing type, but that doesn't change the fact that some of the stuff Marco said wasn't right. can someone dumb down the method to get this to run on linux for someone who's only ever operated windows?
install the .tar.bz2 package and extract it to your games folder or desktop, your distro should come with an archive manager. go into your terminal, type "cd " and drag the folder into the terminal. press enter and then type "./Adastra.sh" that should open up the game

I have been waiting for the sequel, and I have played it again and again.😭
Interea is no sequel mate :D
It's a companion novel, it happens during Adastra, focusing on some of the events at the end of the game

I know this is true for not just me when i say this: "I'm here to replay this for the 3rd time"

Me personally, if I got kidnapped by such a wolf, I wouldn't react how this human did. :-\

How do I save in Android version of this game, when I'm trying to save it's saying error occurred
Hey soo i played the game all the way up to the hot springs part on android, but now that I've downloaded the latest version for windows i cant choose what chapter to start on is this fixable or am i just dumb lol
Yep, nevermind im just dumb lmaaoo
I just had a dream about Adastra, I think once you've got me there, you've done something right.

Thanks, tried to catch the whole "Cassius" personality.
I've got a question about your menu, like the save and load screen and options screen, I've seen many other types of games with this same type of screen and was wondering if you use a certain system or app to make this game?

Hello! Is there an Official Discord Server for anything from Echo Project? Thank you!
Just finished the game
It made me cry multiple times, the story, art, character's personality and other stuff are amazingly well made, I loved every bit
If you wanna start on visual novels, this is for you, it's 100% worth your time, I hope theres more Adastra in the future
Thanks for creating this masterpiece <3
I really enjoyed this, Nicely done.
I like the companion story and the sequel. I look forward to reading more of both of these, along with an ending wrap-up.
Let me know if there is any help you might need.
Na primeira vez que eu joguei o jogo no final dele eu chorei tanto que quase não terminei #Amicus
(Another Topic)
The ending had me stumped. What was going to happen next? Is there going to be a sequel? I don't know.
Cool I hope they do actually do one where Amicus and everyone has a reunion over the years.
I am so hoping for that reunion. I got so attached to the characters it would suck if we didn't get a proper ending for them.
What language are all wolves in Adastra talking? Is it Latin?
Not quite, Latin is a human "brutalization" of their language.
Kind of in the same way that Latin is to most modern languages today.
So is it, or not? I think they also mentioned Italian in a part.
So almost like a combination of the two languages?
An evolved, more modern form of Latin that resembles Italian at some point, if I recall correctly.
i don't remember it being brutalization of their language it's litterally the same one with like different dialects
