I love the direction the story is heading right now, but i definitely have my grievances that i hope echo project work on resolving in the future! Mainly just Amicus as of now, but the more i dwell on it, the more i do feel like Khemia is moving away from those tones i loved so much in Adastra.
Now, I'm fully aware that Amicus always had those arrogant undertones that were simply glossed over from the view of Marco, but holy shit does that just make me miss that POV even more. Every scene with Amicus in this game feels like a slog to get through excluding like... Two.
It still doesnt help that (Even though it has been three years in-game) Amicus' character in Interea is able to have the emperor tone we see in Khemia whilst still being a lovable, fair and respectful individual. He's even able to hold this professional tone in intense situations, something he completely fails on doing in Khemia, bursting into a fit of rage instead.
It doesn't help that his new sprite is genuine whiplash compared to the other sprites in this game, the new art style in general just feels... Odd, actually. Not that i fully dislike it, i think that Neferu, Virginia and Brunis look great, but i found Aya's sprite to be my favorite of the game as of version 0.4, which as far as i can, tell that was the old style!
Like i said, this comes from a place of care, i just want to see a satisfying conclusion to this game that doesn't completely kill Amicus' character going into the next game in the franchise. Also give the poor wolf boy his belly back and my life is yours :(
I don’t quite like the Amicus sprite within game. It doesn’t really match his previous sprites. And his proportions just look…off. His writing also doesn’t reflect his previous self in Adastra. He just feels really strange.
That's not an excuse.. You can change/update art styles while staying true to a character's design. The art for his sprite, in general, is of poor quality... Even compared to the other's, his He looks stiff and unrecognisable, and his belly shrank AGAIN.
It has been three-odd years since the first so it would make sense if he changed physically to match his new title as emperor, still, i agree that it feels wrong i wont lie...
If we ever get a "Adastra 2" of any sort i would definitely like to see him regain a bit of his older built. It felt integral to the whole "Warm/Grounded emperor" we saw so much of in the first.
Then again as that other person noted, it could just be different perspectives of him, of course Marco would see Amicus as more of a comfort character whilst Scipeo would see him as more of a "Leader."
On a more positive note... The new sprites and art style look awesome! Virginia's whole character feels so much more complete with her new design, same goes for Neferu.
Why hasn't Amicus grown at all? In this work, he comes across as extremely immature, completely unlike what an emperor should be. Clearly, in the main story of Adastra, he had enough confidence and ability to face any challenge, and before the humans left, he showed signs of having egalitarian thoughts (except on the day of the date when he acted like a jerk out of frustration from the plan failing). Yet, in the current timeline, he somehow appears to me as an arrogant and incompetent figure. For now, I'm interpreting it as him losing his composure due to worry about the human's situation, and I hope there's a better explanation later on!
oh. horribly frustrating that the entire fourth build covers only a single day, with a cliffhanger at the end. i guess i can't really be that upset since it's free and all, i just kinda hoped they'd have the momentum to make larger updates by now

without his belly, he's not my wolf

It doesn't match his previous sprites because it's a different art style all together.

Yeah, Amicus's sprite is bad tbh. And I think that's just how Scipeo sees.
Just like how Marco sees Amicus as a good fat boy.

let's be frank, he's not chubby anymore, that was part of his charm and now it makes him less atractive haha

yeahhhh, I also hope that this might be explained later on
