one of the standout experiences of media in my life. about 40 hours spread in a period of 3-4 years, i'm really sad i can't experience any of it for the first time anymore, even though i'm not always fond of the characters' decisions/actions. i definitely feel like a different person before and after this, just like with adastra.
Its so sad that Echo was just discontinued, i would've loved to see more about the characters including Keith and the tetanus alley crew, how they handle life after the events of the game, answers to all the questions raised by the game. Overall theres a bunch of things that the game does incredibly well but, kinda forget about some other things.
Ps: Micha is the best character of Echo, prove me otherwise.
Well there's Arches, though I think only one or two characters that appeared in echo reappear there. Stories have to end somewhere, they can't spend an infinite amount of time exploring every detail. I mean if you really want that level of detail there's a ton of fanfic out there.
Echo is discontinued? I thought it was just finished. Also, I agree with wanting to see more about the characters. I'd love a Sydney route; I really enjoyed the brief moments we had in Flynn's route and I want to see everything that happened from his perspective.
There was so much that they could have, added to the universe, they tried something with The smoke room but they had some complications and now the project is gone and the fact that The smoke room was set in a different universe. They're dont need to be routes, just new hidden stories like the others, again would've been awesome.
Hi I need help, about echo Iv just download the game on android but for some reason when i start a game and typing on tge screen a few times it exit the game, iv tried deleting it and then downloading it again and even restarted the phone but nothin seems to work
Are there any plans to ever use the characters here again (be it actual new content, a reboot, or something similar to Route 65) again? Really I’m just desperate for this story not to be over…
If you really want more content there's an infinite amount of fanfic out there. Stories need an endpoint, you can't go on forever. FYI Route 65 began as a fanfic that eventually got adopted into the canon.
My turn. I guesss i played this VN fist time in... early 2024, and since then i wish i could delete my memory just to play this VN again and be amazed all over again. Well... this one and Adastra if i have the option to choose two.
deletion might be the only thing separating our memory from a hard drive... though I inevitably find myself wishing the same. these games really are quite strange
I thought I was ready to read it cause I keep seeing a good reviews of this, but it turns out I keep crying in leo's route😭 I didn't expect it to be this good, everyone thought this is just a horror Visual Novel, but it's not, IT'S A MASTERPIECE💕😭
Hi I need help, Iv just download the game on android but for some reason when i start a game and typing on tge screen a few times it exit the game, iv tried deleting it and then downloading it again and even restarted the phone but nothin seems to work
I've played this game fully like five times since it released, and have been active in its community and it has genuinely changed me as a person AND I REALIZED JUST TODAY I NEVER RATED IT.
Play this. If you're queer, and a furry, you should play this. It's damn good.
(No spoilers) Made an account just to say how much this game impacted me. I've played quite a few VNs and a friend recommended this as their whole server have played it. I didn't know what to expect or what it was, but I wasn't ready.
I did TJ's route first and while very sad, I was struck by the atmosphere and writing, I love Stephen King and clearly the writer does too. But after that first ending I didn't know if it was worth playing more. I did Jenna next and for the love of god I was not ready for how deep the rabbit hole of the story and characters goes.
You begin to see yourself and people you know reflected in Chase's friends and the people you meet as you try and cobble together what you can about Echo's secrets. 10/10 I cannot believe this isn't for sale on Steam and it's free. Just try it out.
Wait, Rushnerd? Goddamn, my friends and I have been watching your YouTube videos for a decade now. I still send people that Raccoon.mid video you made 12 years ago. Crazy to see you pop up here.
Never fails to amaze me how many people remember, but I haven't heard that one in a looong time. I really appreciate it! My friend told me to try Arches next so I'm going to try that out. Thanks for making amazing games, McSkinny!
i don't play visual novels often but this one is pretty good. i've currently done carl's route, and i think i'm half way through leo's. i didn't have very high expectations going into this so it surprised me how neatly written the character interactions are. there are some typos and some stuff bothered me pacing wise but its not that bad.
i also noticed some similarities to night in the woods (one of my favorite games) and i was wondering if its purely coincidental or if this game was inspired by it in any way
nitw came out in 2017, echo's first incomplete build came out in 2015. i think after nitw came out one of the routes had to be changed because the plot was too similar but im going off of memory of some post i saw years ago so take that with a grain of salt
This game may be my all-time favourite piece of media. I would recommend it in a heartbeat, but definitely take the content warnings seriously — it can hit very hard sometimes. My recommendation for order of the routes (and luckily the order I managed to play them in) is Route 65 (technically a separate game) -> Leo -> Carl -> TJ -> Jenna -> Flynn if you'd like to maximise emotional damage. Spoilers ahead.
My first experience with Echo was actually Route 65 since my dumbass thought it was the actual game. I'm quite glad it worked out that way though since it set me up perfectly to head straight into Leo's route and ignore every possible red flag thrown my way. Naturally, I chose the bad ending first and it absolutely devastated me. Looking back, I should have seen it coming from a mile away. Leo's route honestly still hurts the most, though TJ's and Flynn's give it a good run for its money.
I next went through Carl's route and while it's definitely the weakest of all of them in my mind, it was still quite enjoyable. I can't laugh at any of the dumb decisions people make in horror movies now cause I went down the bad ending route first. Oops. I honestly thought James would do more damage if Carl resisted him. Overall, pretty good. I do wish Raven had more to do though :(
TJ's route was a return-to-form for the emotional devastation. I could see what was coming way before it ended but I was hoping to god that it wouldn't work out like that; the only thing keeping me going was the thought that the world might honestly be better because of Sydney's death; after all, he probably did kill his dad and was in the process of drowning TJ too so it's actually ok right? I think TJ's route hurt even more after that scene in Flynn's route. I didn't think that anything would be worse than seeing Sydney shoot his dad, and I was proven wrong. Absolutely incredible writing.
Of course the rest of Flynn's route was also awful; feeling helpless and being forced to condemn Flynn even though I knew the truth was really hard. Seeing the true nature of Socket Face made me reconsider everything else I'd already seen before. This game is really good at doing that honestly — so many parts of routes shed a whole new light on the others that really made me question myself. I should have seen that Leo wasn't the perfect wolf I wanted him to be all along; I shouldn't have been so quick to assume that Sydney was a horrible person (he's just a child, what the hell was I thinking?); I should have noticed that TJ was just awkward and not actually into Chase. The game is structured in just such a way that it's easy to fall into these assumptions so that when the carpet gets pulled from beneath you the ground hurts even harder.
Jenna's route was actually my second-to-last, not my last. Quite glad though; while Jenna's (good) ending is lovely and feel-good, Flynn's does a much better job of wrapping up the story as a whole. This route pairs very nicely with Leo's route; giving a lot more context to his and Chase's relationship as a whole. Realising that Chase had been messaging him still felt like a horrible betrayal, and also learning more about the details of their "breakup" with the phone prank helped me see Jenna in a new light. Previously I had assumed that she was kinda the best of them all. She got her life figured out after dealing with her trauma, and now in her route she's able to support the people around her, even the ones who wronged her in the past like Heather. Playing through the Phone short story and getting to see exactly what happened really tarnished that perfect image I had of her. The prank was in bad taste and definitely contributed to the extremely unhealthy relationship that Leo and Chase have during the main events of the game; it definitely feels like she encouraged the prank in order to sort of reveal to Chase that his relationship was not a very healthy one and to push him towards what she believed to be his best future (not to say that she's wrong, obviously their relationship is unhealthy, this just isn't the way to go about proving it). She does a similar thing when she yells at Carl during his route; while she may be right about the fact that Carl should stop being quite so much of a introverted stoner, this certainly isn't the best way of getting him there.
Anyways that's a lot of text. Overall, this game is an unforgettable masterpiece. I really hope you heeded the spoiler warning and aren't here without playing the game yet, but even if you are you should still play it for yourself; it's an amazing experience.

Is anyone else unable to open this on Mac?
I'm playing it on my Mac fine. Do you get a specific error? And this might be a dumb question but you've downloaded the Mac version?
its a tracback.txt error. Says: I’m sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.
After initialization, but before game start. Exception: CoreAudio error (OpenAComponent): -50
then a long list of text

P.S.: Kudzu is cooler than Micha ;)

How in the hell ive missed the hidden side stories -_-. welp here we go again
A question, can you do Jenna's route with the option of being gay? Or is it mandatory to put the bi option?
Yes, you can play Jenna's route with the option of being gay and that does change some dialogues and things btw Jenna and Chase.

Its a bug with newer models, unfortunately theres no fix. The only way to play echo now is on Pc

Yeah... i have terrible news for you.

I don't get it? Flynn's ending? Five years later? Am I right? or I made the wrong decision 😆😅
I read it on my own, changed my life.
Started reading it with a non-furry friend. A year later, we finished it.
Had a blast the entire time, thank u everyone who worked on this game, much love
I read this a year ago. Masterpiece of queer fiction. Cried many times

Please do NOT play this with silent hill soundtracks.
that's a good idea

Damn i really wished there was a better ending for leo, honestly a really great novel despite not enjoying the ending lol but still yk it was good
Leo's ending (the good one) Is the ideal send off for the game and I'm glad I did him last. It gave me peace at least.
yeah ik, I just really wanted to see Leo and him back together
